Released on 11 February 2005 following a series of delays, Ji follows the story of Vasu, a happy-go-lucky final-year college student who contests elections after being persuaded by his friends. He incurs the wrath of local MLA Varadharajan, whose son is also contesting the elections.
Vasu's father Seenu advises him to take on the bad apples like Varadharajan and teach them a lesson. With the backing of college students, Vasu files a nomination for the assembly elections and takes on Varadharajan's gang in a series of events.
