Jayakodi is a 1940 Indian Tamil-language social problem film directed by Bhagwan Dada.
The film stars K. T. Rukmini and K. Natarajan in its lead roles, with Rukmini playing the role of Rajam, an impoverished Brahmin girl who rebels against the dowry system.
Rajam's family is unable to provide a dowry, leading to her inability to marry. A greedy moneylender murders her father and sets fire to their home in an attempt to gain his wealth.
In response, Rajam becomes a social activist and adopts the name "Jayakodi", disappearing prospective bridegrooms who demand dowries. She eventually finds love with an honest man and gets married.
The film was released on 17 March 1940 and achieved significant success upon its release. Unfortunately, no known prints of the film survive today, making it a lost film.
