Japanil Kalyanaraman is a 1985 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by S. P. Muthuraman, starring Kamal Haasan and Radha.
The movie follows Raman, a journalist who exposes his son Narendran's involvement in a smuggling and black money operation. After surviving an attack, Raman travels to Japan with his son Arun and the spirit of the deceased Kalyanaraman to buy printing equipment for their new magazine venture.
There, Raman meets Radha, a waitress, and they develop feelings for each other amidst the main plot. A comedic subplot involves Mayilsamy and Muppaathaa winning a lucky draw to visit Japan with guidance from Munusamy.
The film was released on 11 November 1985 and is the first sequel in Tamil cinema following the original Kalyanaraman (1979).
