Jakkamma is a 1972 Indian Tamil-language Western film directed and filmed by M. Karnan.
The story revolves around Jakkamma and her husband Ponnambalam, who live happily with their two sons, Babu and Raja in a village constantly raided by the notorious robber Kali and his gang. After Ponnambalan is killed trying to save the village, Jakkamma takes charge, teaching her sons to fight against injustice.
She herself is abducted by Kali but eventually rescued through the help of their friend Jambu, who sympathizes with the poor. In a climactic confrontation orchestrated by Babu and Raja using Jambu's assistance, Jakkamma kills Kali, leading to the liberation of the village.
The film stars Jaishankar, Savitri and S. A. Ashokan, and was released on 14 September 1972.
Jakkamma was directed by M. Karnan who also handled the cinematography and wrote the screenplay. The film was produced by Vijaya Chitra Films.
