The film adaptation of the folk tale "The 12 Minister's Tale", it revolves around Prince Jagathalapratapan, who marries Indirakumari, one of the celestial maidens featured in the story.
Featuring supporting performances by P. B. Rangachari, M. R. Santhanalakshmi, and N. S. Krishnan, the film was released on 13 April 1944 and became a box-office success, establishing Chinnappa as one of the top stars in Tamil cinema.
