Iru Thuruvam is a 1971 Tamil crime drama film directed by S. Ramanathan and produced by P. S. Veerappa.
The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Padmini, Muthuraman, Nagesh, and Sundarrajan in supporting roles.
The movie is a remake of the 1961 Hindi film Gunga Jumna and tells the story of two brothers, Rangan and Durai, who grow up with a single mother. Rangan wants Durai to become a police officer, but their lives take a cruel turn when Durai undergoes training with Naganathan, an evil zamindar, turning Rangan into a dacoit and criminal.
The narrative concludes tragically with Naganathan's arrest and Rangan's demise. The film was released on January 14, 1971, but failed commercially.
