Synopsis
Idhaya Kovil is a 1985 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Mohan as Shankar, a popular singer.
The film tells the story of Suriya (Ambika), a college girl who tries to convince Shankar to perform at her college festival. Despite initial rejections, she breaks into his home and helps him overcome his addiction, leading to their friendship and romance.
As their relationship deepens, Suriya learns about Shankar's troubled past involving a lost love named Gauri, which he had in a village before becoming famous.
The film features music by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 14 September 1985. It did well at the box office and became a huge success with its score and soundtrack.
