Gummalam is a 2002 Tamil-language film directed by Sugi S. Moorthy and produced by Kandhasamy.
The film features newcomers Mithun Tejaswi, Rathi, Akash, Ganesh, and Zakeer in its cast.
Marking the directorial debut of Sugi S. Moorthy, the movie was his second production after Sethu (1999).
The film's soundtrack was composed by Gandhidasan, with songs shot at various locations including Ooty, Rameswaram, and Santosh Sivan's cinematography.
Two of the songs were later reused in other films: "Thitranga Thitranga" became "Baithare Baithare" in the Kannada film Baithare Baithare. The song "Dhimsukattai" was performed by Timmy.
The movie's story hardly affects the audience at any point, according to The Hindu, but its treatment leaves much to be desired.
