Gumasthavin Penn is a 1941 Indian Tamil-language romance film directed by B. N. Rao.
The film tells the story of two sisters, Seetha and Sarasa, whose father Ramaswami struggles to marry them off due to financial constraints. A wealthy man named Mani encourages infidelity, while another character, Ramu, opposes marriage for reformist ideals but eventually agrees to his mother's wishes regarding one sister.
Seetha is forced into an unhappy marriage with a much older man who soon becomes her widower. When Mani attempts to assault her, Ramu intervenes and saves her, causing Seetha immense trauma that leads to her suicide. Haunted by guilt over her death, Ramu then takes responsibility for arranging Sarasa's marriage.
However, the intended bridegroom refuses due to a dispute concerning dowry. Consequently, Ramu marries Sarasa himself.
The film was released on 10 May 1941 and became a success.
