Gumastha is a 1953 Indian film produced in both Tamil and Telugu languages.
The film stars V. Nagayya, R. S. Manohar, and Pandari Bai.
The story revolves around Ranganathan, an honest government clerk trying to support his large family despite his low income. His brother Gopan is a bright young man unable to continue college due to financial constraints.
Meanwhile, the son of a wealthy man named Ravi becomes infatuated with Susheela, Ranganathan's sister. Ignoring medical advice about Ravi's heart condition, he marries her. Upon learning of his illness, Susheela refuses intimacy but is later forced into it by Ravi.
The film was released on 3 April 1953 and is based on the play NGO (Non-Gazetted Officer) by Acharya Aatreya.
