Gnana Soundari is a 1948 Indian Tamil-language film produced by Gemini Studios.
The story revolves around Gnanam, the only daughter of King Dharmar, who is mistreated by her stepmother. She becomes beautiful as Gnana Soundari and faces a threat from her stepmother while the king is away.
Gnana Soundari's stepmother arranges for her to be taken into the forest by goons; instead of killing her, they amputate both her arms before abandoning her.
A prince from a neighboring state discovers Gnana Soundari in this condition during his hunting expedition and rescues her, subsequently falling in love with her despite objections from his father.
The film was released around the same time as another successful version of the same story produced by Citadel Studios but unfortunately turned out to be a commercial failure.
