Gayathri is a 1977 Indian Tamil-language crime thriller film directed by R. Pattabhiraman and written by Panchu Arunachalam.
The movie stars Jaishankar, Rajinikanth, and Sridevi in its lead roles. It is based on the novel of the same name by Sujatha.
Rajarathnam, a wealthy man living in Madras with his sister Sarasu and a house maid, secretly records intimate scenes involving himself and his new bride Gayathri (from Tiruchirappalli) for black market distribution. His sister facilitated the marriage to him.
Gayathri discovers Rajarathnam's secret life as a blue film producer after learning he is already married and has another woman who is now insane. The story also involves Ganesh, a friend of Chellappa (likely a character or writer reference), attempting to free Gayathri from her difficult situation.
The film was released on 7 October 1977.
