Engirundho Vandhaal is a 1970 Indian Tamil-language film directed by A. C. Tirulokchandar and produced by K. Balaji.
The lead roles are played by Sivaji Ganesan and Jayalalithaa, with supporting performances from K. Balaji, M. Bhanumathi, Nagesh, Sundarrajan, and Raja.
The film is a remake of the 1963 Telugu film Punarjanma, which was based on the novel Patthar Ke Honth by Gulshan Nanda.
The plot revolves around Sekar losing his sanity after witnessing his lover's betrayal into marriage orchestrated by his friend Sukumar. His lover subsequently takes her own life during a stage performance by setting herself ablaze.
Despite being treated poorly, the family retains him to maintain ownership of their property. They eventually hire Radha as a nurse; she is revealed to be a courtesan in this context.
The film was released on 29 October 1970 and became a silver jubilee hit, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Tamil.
