Doctor Savithri is a 1955 Indian Tamil-language legal thriller film directed by R. M. Krishnaswamy and written by Acharya.
The movie stars Anjali Devi, S. Balachander, M. N. Nambiar, and B. R. Panthulu in its contemporary adaptation of the Savitri-Satyavan legend.
Savithri is a doctor who treats the poor for free. When she encounters Vanaja, a young wealthy woman being harassed by the crooked lawyer Nagalingam, she and her husband Somasundaram intervene to help her.
After Nagalingam's murder, Somasundaram is wrongfully convicted. Savithri then investigates the crime herself and discovers Jagath Singh, another doctor, was actually blackmailing Nagalingam before his death and is revealed as the murderer.
The film was released on 25 November 1955 and became a success.
