Dheepam is a 1977 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. Vijayan and produced by K. Balaji.
The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Sujatha, Vijayakumar, and Sangeetha in key roles.
Based on the Malayalam film Theekkanal, Dheepam tells the story of Somu and Kannan, brothers who become estranged after a fight. Somu joins his brother's family as an adopted son and becomes embroiled in their shady business dealings. When he discovers that his father has left everything to him, including his daughter Latha, Somu sets out to find her a suitable groom.
As Somu showers love and riches on Kannan, who is revealed to be his long-lost brother, the two brothers' relationship deepens. Meanwhile, Radha, Latha's friend, falls in love with Kannan, leading to a romantic triangle.
Dheepam was released on January 26, 1977, and ran for over 100 days in theatres.
