Dhakam is an Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film released in 1972.
Directed by Babu Nanthankode in his debut, the film was co-written and its cinematography handled by T. Vaiyadurai.
The story revolves around Sharada, an orphan living at a religious home (ashram), who forms a close bond with Sekhar, another resident who is blind.
The film depicts their eventual marriage, followed by their attempt to make a living in Madras as salespeople. However, they find city life challenging and return to the ashram.
Tragically, Sharada dies, having donated her eyes to help restore sight for someone else.
The main stars are R. Muthuraman portraying Sekhar and Nanditha Bose as Sharada. Other supporting roles were played by Major Sundarrajan, Pandari Bai, Rajakokila, Renuka Parvathi, and Jayaseelam.
Though conceived during work with T. Vaiyadurai at an unspecified location or company, the film did not receive a theatrical release but was shown in various film festivals after its completion.
