Dakshayagnam is a 1938 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Raja Chandrasekhar.
The movie stars V. A. Chellappa, N. S. Krishnan, and T. A. Mathuram in the main roles, with M. G. Ramachandran appearing as Vishnu in a minor part.
Historically significant, Dakshayagnam is the first sound version of the Daksha yajna story.
The film tells the story of Sati, the daughter of Daksha, who marries Shiva against her father's wishes. This leads to a confrontation between Daksha and Shiva, resulting in Sati's tragic death and ultimately Shiva's revenge on his father.
