Chitthi is a 1966 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by K. S. Gopalakrishnan.
The story revolves around Meenakshi, the eldest daughter of a family comprising six sisters and one brother named Balu, who dreams of her brother becoming an MBBS doctor. To support their household while he studies medicine, she takes up work as a domestic help.
Meenakshi struggles to pay her brother's tuition fees and secure financial assistance from various sources, including her employers and her love interest Muthaiya. The film stars Padmini in the lead role alongside Gemini Ganesan.
The narrative details Meenakshi's desperate need for ₹1,000 to cover Balu's college expenses, which she faces difficulty obtaining due to a lack of financial support from those around her.
