Chintamani is a 1937 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Y.V. Rao and starring M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, Serugulathur Sama, and Aswathamma.
The movie is based on the popular play Chintamani, which had previously been adapted into silent films and talkies in Bengali, Hindi, and Telugu.
Produced under the banner of Rayal Talkies in Madurai, the film tells the life story of a Sanskrit poet named Bilwamangal, played by M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar.
The movie holds significance as it was the first Tamil film to run for a year in a single theatre.
