Chandralekha is a 1948 Indian historical adventure film produced and directed by S. S. Vasan of Gemini Studios.
The story revolves around two brothers, Veerasimhan and Sasankan, who clash over ruling their father's kingdom and marrying a village dancer named Chandralekha.
Starring T. R. Rajakumari, M. K. Radha, and Ranjan, the film follows the conflict between the two brothers as they vie for control of the kingdom and the hand of Chandralekha.
Development began in the early 1940s following Vasan's two consecutive box-office successes. The film was originally conceived in Tamil and later adapted into Hindi by Vasan himself, with T. G. Raghavachari initially set to direct before creative disagreements led to his departure. S. S. Vasan took over direction for this project, marking his directorial debut.
