Chandrahari is a 1941 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. S. Mani.
The movie stars N. S. Krishnan and T. A. Mathuram as its lead actors, with the story based on the legend of Harishchandra.
In this spoof, King Chandrahari is defined by his inability to tell the truth. Sage Vistavasi challenges Yama and takes 9000 gold coins from the heavenly abode, offering them as a loan to Chandrahari with the stipulation that if he can get another 1000 coins, they will be his.
Later, learning of an incident involving the king and two women during his nightly rounds, the sage demands repayment through marriage. This forces the king to abdicate his throne along with his wife and son.
The sage then takes over the kingdom, leading to various complications before ultimately restoring everything to its original state, allowing the king to return victorious.
