Bharthruhari is a 1944 Indian Tamil-language historical drama film produced by K. Subrahmanyam and co-directed with C. S. V. Iyer.
The movie stars Serukalathur Sama and B. Jayamma, with supporting roles played by G. Pattu Iyer, N. S. Krishnan, V. N. Janaki, and T. A. Mathuram.
The film is based on the life of King Bharthari, who is married to 300 wives, including his favorite Pingala. The plot revolves around Aswapaalan, the chief groom of the king's horses, who resorts to thievery for Sundari's sake, leading the king to investigate and uncover their affair.
The story follows the king's pursuit of justice as he tries to find the culprit behind the thefts, while also navigating his own extramarital affair with Pingala. The film was released on 13 April 1944 but failed commercially.
