Bhaktha Chetha is a 1940 Tamil language film directed and produced by K. Subrahmanyam.
The story revolves around Chetha (played by Papanasam Sivan), a cobbler belonging to a lower caste who is also a devotee of Vishnu, living near Hastinapura in a slum. He faces discrimination from Drona (Kothamangalam Subbu), another character who believes people like Chetha have no right to worship God.
An unexpected twist occurs when Chetha's son, Seva (Master R. Thirumalai), falls in love with Shantha (G. Subbulakshmi), Drona's daughter. Initially shocked by this inter-caste relationship, Chetha eventually accepts it upon realizing that God transcends caste distinctions.
Drona, however, becomes furious upon learning of Seva's intentions and orders him to make one thousand pairs of sandals as a condition or punishment for his son's actions.
