Azhagi

Azhagi is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Thangar Bachan in his directoral debut.

The film stars Parthiban, Nandita Das, and Devayani, and is based on the writer's short story "Kalvettugal".

The story revolves around Shanmugam, a veterinary doctor who lives with his wife Valarmati and their two children. He reunites with his childhood crush Dhanalakshmi, now living in poverty after her husband's death.

As memories of the past create tension between them, Shanmugam hires Dhanalakshmi as their servant-maid. The film was released on January 14, 2002, and won the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Tamil.

Azhagi was remade in Telugu as Letha Manasulu in 2004.
