Synopsis
Avvaiyar is a 1953 Indian Tamil-language historical drama film directed by Kothamangalam Subbu and produced by S. S. Vasan.
The movie stars K. B. Sundarambal as Avvaiyar, a character central to the story.
The plot revolves around a childless couple who adopt an abandoned baby girl, raising her in luxury due to their wealth. As she matures, Avvaiyar develops a profound devotion to Lord Vinayagar, disregarding conventional expectations for marriage at her age.
Avvaiyar prays to become old before any suitor arrives, so no young man would consider her. Her wish is granted by Lord Vinayagar, visibly transforming her into an elderly woman upon the realization of others around her.
As Avvaiyar, this wise and aged figure embarks on a journey from her village to various other places, dedicating herself to travelling widely and using songs as her medium to preach the greatness of Lord Vinayagar while offering solutions to diverse problems encountered along the way.
