Annai is a 1962 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Krishnan–Panju.
The lead roles are played by P. Bhanumathi as Savithri and Sowcar Janaki as Seetha, with supporting performances from T. S. Muthaiah, S. V. Ranga Rao, and J. P. Chandrababu.
The film is a remake of the 1960 Bengali movie Maya Mriga, which was based on a play by Nihar Ranjan Gupta.
The plot explores the theme that the love of a foster mother can be stronger than that of one's biological mother.
R. Sudarshanam composed the music including the soundtrack and background score for the film, with lyrics penned by Kannadasan and Kothamangalam Subbu.
Annai was released on 15 December 1962 to positive reviews and was a commercial success, running for 100 days in theaters.
