Anjali is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language children's drama film written and directed by Mani Ratnam.
The film stars Raghuvaran and Revathi in the lead roles, supported by Tarun, Shruti, and Shamili.
It tells the story of Chitra, her husband Shekhar, and their two young children Arjun and Anu, who live in a rural area in India. After the birth of their third child is claimed to be stillborn, the family moves to a new apartment complex.
As time passes, Shekhar's past comes back to haunt him when he witnesses the murder of a Police Inspector and must testify against the killer. Meanwhile, Chitra brings home a brain-damaged child, Anjali, who suffers from mental disability, causing emotional trauma for the family.
The film was released on 12 July 1990 and received critical acclaim, winning three National Film Awards. It was also featured at the 14th International Film Festival of India in the Indian Panorama section.
