Synopsis
Anandha Kanneer is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by K. Vijayan.
The film is based on the play Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom (We will make a new world) by Bharath and stars Sivaji Ganesan and Lakshmi.
The story revolves around the honest protagonist, Kalyanaraman Iyer, who faces difficulties in arranging his daughter's marriage due to dowry demands from her family and complications arising from his second son entering into an inter-religion marriage.
He struggles when his own daughter-in-law leaves home, taking their earning elder son with her, leaving the retired Kalyanaraman Iyer financially dependent on his jobless third son who is prone to anger.
The film also mentions a plot element involving him selling one of his kidneys for money.
