Amaran is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language action gangster film directed by K. Rajeshwar and starring Karthik and Bhanupriya in the lead roles.
The film tells the story of an orphaned child who helps Govindan escape from gangsters, leading to his adoption and eventual upbringing by him as Amaran.
As Amaran grows up, he becomes a kind-hearted slum lord, but is eventually drawn into a confrontation with Aandava Perumal, a violent and brutal don whose past actions have a personal connection to Amaran's own family history.
The film features music composed by Adithyan and cinematography by P. C. Sreeram, with supporting roles from Radha Ravi, Prathap K. Pothan, and Shammi Kapoor.
Amaran was released theatrically on 15 January 1992.
