Amara Deepam (1956) is a Tamil-language romantic drama film directed and co-written by T. Prakash Rao. The film was produced by Venus Pictures and stars Sivaji Ganesan, Savitri, and Padmini.
The plot follows Aruna, who flees her home to escape an unwanted marriage arranged with her cousin Sukumar due to his dictatorial nature. She is rescued by a stranger named Ashok, but he loses his memory after being hit on the head and later falls for Rupa, a woman in a gypsy camp.
Aruna continues her search for the man who saved her, while the film was remade in Hindi as Amardeep in 1958. It was released on June 29, 1956.
