Synopsis
Simmasanam is a 2000 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by Eswaran in his debut.
The film stars Vijayakanth in a triple role as a father and his two sons, alongside Khushbu Sundar, Manthra, Radhika Chaudhari, Ambika, and Viji.
The story revolves around Sakthivel and Thangarasu, stepbrothers from a remote village. Sakthivel is a man of high values and integrity, while Thangarasu is an angry young man who cannot tolerate injustice.
Thangarasu falls in love with Manju and Revathi, but his temper gets the better of him during a wedding function when rowdies misbehave with Sakthivel's wife. The situation escalates to the point where Thangarasu beats up the rowdies, leading to a confrontation at the village court.
Sakthivel publicly flogs Thangarasu as punishment, leaving him heartbroken and believing that his mother had wronged him. The film explores their contrasting personalities and the events that unfold from this point onwards.
Simmasanam was released on 4 August 2000.
