Synopsis
Penn Manam is a 1952 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by S. Soundararajan.
The story revolves around Paramasivam, a farmer from Thanjavur who leaves his family without telling his wife Meenakshi or their three children. His absence coincides with tragedy: one child dies, and deeply distressed, Meenakashi attempts to drown herself and the other two children in a river.
Meanwhile, Paramasivam is in Colombo where he saves an unknown child from being hit by a car. Grateful for his intervention, the car owner gives him money. This prompts Paramasivam to return to India and seek out his family.
The film stars T. K. Shanmugam and M. V. Rajamma in their respective roles as husband and wife.
Shooting took place at a location now no longer existent, and the film was released on 5 December 1952.
